Pr Freda Serwadda of Victory Church – Ndeeba has encouraged parents to take off time and focus on nurturing their children’s spiritual growth and well-being during this holiday season.

The Pastor explained that the vast majority of parents strive to provide their children with the best upbringing by fostering their physical, emotional, and intellectual development; equally important, but often overlooked, is developing their faith in God.

“As the school holiday season is here, I want to encourage each of us to take this time to focus on nurturing our children’s spiritual growth and well-being.” she said Wednesday in an update.

Pr Freda urged that the holidays offer a unique chance to deepen “our children’s understanding of God’s love and teachings.”

Recent findings by Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) revealed that Uganda has one of the youngest populations in the world, with 48.21 per cent of its citizens under 14 years of age.

“Let’s make an extra effort to guide them in their faith journey, engage in meaningful family activities, and ensure they remain safe and well-attended. This is a wonderful season to reinforce the values we cherish and to be present with our children as they experience the joy and blessings of this special time,” Pr Freda Serwadda explained.

“May we all be diligent in fostering an environment where our children can grow closer to God and feel our loving care,” she added.

In her other sermon, titled “Cherishing the Gift of Family”, Pr Freda Serwadda used Proverbs 24:3-4 to explain that families ought to be built on a Christ Foundation.

She stated that when parents prioritize Christ in their union, they create a strong, enduring structure that can withstand life’s storms.

“As parents, we have the sacred duty of raising our children in the knowledge and love of the Lord. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 says, “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Our daily interactions are opportunities to teach and model God’s love and truth to our children, shaping their faith and character,” she said.

“Families are not perfect, and conflicts are inevitable. However, Colossians 3:13 encourages us to “bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Let us be quick to extend grace and forgiveness within our families, just as we have received from Christ,” she continued.
